Aston Martin One-77 Revealed
Posted on 05 March 2009 by Scott Hayes
The British firm has lifted the veil on what the entire automotive community is calling the ultimate Aston Martin at the 79th edition of the Geneva Motor Show. The engineers and designers of the One-77 created the truly sensational car with this very thought in mind.
According to Dr. Ulrich Bez, the One-77 Coupe “quite simply had to be the ultimate expression of Aston Martin. As you can now see, we have achieved that goal in magnificent style.”
How did Aston Martin do it? Simply by creating a car that is beyond understanding. The engine is derived from the house V12 already available in the DB9 and DBS coupes, but now boasts 7.3 litres instead of the usual 6.0 litres, as well as 521kW. The engineers of the famous Cosworth company handcraft each engine and mounted it 100mm lower than any other V12 ever to grace an Aston Martin.
With its astonishingly powerful engine and carbon chassis, the One-77′s projected weight is but a meagre 1500kg’s. Aston Martin predicts a top speed of a shade over 320km/h, with a zero to 100km/h sprint of just 3.5 seconds.
Ofcourse this exclusivity comes at an astronomical price, US$1.4 million to be precise, but despite this all 77 cars are already spoken for. The car on display at the Geneva show is stamped #1, and 76 others will follow by the end of the year.
