The New Volkswagen CC In South Africa

Volkswagen’s take on a lower-cost Mercedes CLS is a CC (Comfort Coupé), with a rakish roofline but still with four doors and four seats. The Volkswagen CC is the first four door coupé to be introduced by Volkswagen and although familiar in appearance, no external panel is shared with the current Passat saloon.

The four-door coupé measures 4 796 millimeters in length, with a width of 1 856 millimeters and stands 1 422 millimeters high. The sleek profile and low roofline mean the Volkswagen CC has a drag coefficient of just 0,29.

The VW CC is available with three power plants, namely a 2,0-litre TDI, 2,0-litre TSI or 3,6-litre V6 FSI.

All models receive a new instrument design, developed exclusively for the Volkswagen CC. The numbers and markings glow in a white light as well as the multi-functional display, that is illuminated in white, instead of the usual red. 17-inch alloys are standard on the TDI, while 18-inch wheels are fitted to the TSI and V6 models.

Optional extras on the new CC include an electrically powered panoramic sunroof and climate seats. The sunroof is 750 millimeters long and 1,120 millimeters wide. This means that it covers the entire front section up to the B pillars. The new 6-way, or optional 12-way (standard on V6), electronically adjustable sport front seats are available with a climate control feature, which ventilates the driver’s seat and seatback surfaces through the use of fans that circulate around 320 liters of air per minute through the seats.

Not unlike the Scirocco, the rear seats offer lateral support on the sides of the seatbacks and seat surfaces. Standard features include a centre armrest between the two rear seats and an additional storage compartment. When the centre armrest is folded down, a pass-through feature makes it possible to stow longer objects, which extend into the trunk area with its 532-litre capacity.

Prices (VAT included)
2.0 TDI DSG (125 kW) – R348 745
2.0 TSI Manual (147 kW) – R353 900
2.0 TSI Tiptronic (147 kW) – R365 400
3.6 V6 FSI 4Motion DSG (220 kW) – R451 260
