The Lotus Elise has received updates for the new 2011 model year. The changes include styling and mechanical tweaks, as well as the introduction of a new entry-level model with a Toyota-sourced 1,6-litre petrol engine.
Styling enhancements for the new 2011 Elise consist of a new front fascia with redesigned hood, new bumper with a wider grille and reshaped headlights featuring LED daytime running lights for the first time. However, the most important upgrades are found under the bonnet, with the new Elise model range expanding with a new entry-level ‘S’ model, powered by a Toyota-sourced 1,6-litre four-cylinder engine.
In addition, all models benefit from a new six-speed manual gearbox, while both the 140 kW 1,8-litre ‘R’ and the 160 kW 1,8-litre SuperCharged SC boast lower CO2 emissions and better fuel economy than the previous generation.
