Hyundai i40 Estate First Images

Posted on 19 February 2011 by Scott Hayes

Another day and another Geneva preview, this time by Hyundai in the form of their all-new Hyundai i40 Estate. The new car features original design characteristics and will be marketed in Europe as an affordable luxury car.

The Hyundai i40 Estate is a car that was developed at Hyundai’s testing facilities in Russelsheim, Germany, and will come with a range of engine and transmission options to suit the European markets – specific details are yet to be officially announced. However, one engine option will be a 1.7-litre diesel unit (codenamed UII), which promises to offer great fuel economy and emit just 113 grams of CO2 per kilometre.

The i40 Estate looks quite modern and in sync with the latest range of Hyundai vehicles. Hyundai says the car adopts the company’s latest ‘fluidic sculpture’ design philosophy, and includes details such as the hexagonal grille layout, sharp multi-angle headlight clusters, spotlight shards, and an unmistakable grin in the lower section of the front bumper bar.

Inside the car will feature a range of luxury comforts as standard, including heated seats, heated steering wheel and an auto-demist feature for the windscreen.

Hyundai South Africa hasn’t announced a possible inclusion into the local lineup, the car will hit the European market in June though.
