Porsche has introduced the new Panamera S Hybrid variant of its Gran Turismo Panamera model.
The new Panamera S Hyrbid uses the same powertrain as that of the Cayenne S Hybrid we drove recently, meaning under the skin is a 3.0-litre V6 supercharged engine with 245 kW coupled with a 34 kW electric motor for total power output of 279 kW. The electric motor also works as both a generator and starter and is fed current from a nickel-metal hydride battery. The Panamera S Hybrid comes with Porsche’s eight-speed Tiptronic S gearbox.
0 to 100 km/h acceleration takes just 6.0 seconds and top speed is 270 km/h. As in the Cayenne, the petrol V6 is turned-off at “sailing” speeds of up to 156 km/h during highway stretches to save fuel. The hybrid Panamera features an average fuel-economy rating of 7.1 L/100km and can run exclusively on electric power for up to 2 km and reach a top speed of 85 km/h. CO2 emissions are 167 g/km on the European cycle.
The Panamera S Hybrid will make its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show on March 1st.
