The BMW Z4 GT3, which was launched in March 2010, achieved its greatest success to date in January 2011, when it took victory at the Dubai 24-Hours for Team Schubert. Now, the modified BMW Z4 GT3 has finished testing and is ready for future owners.
A difference between the production and racing car can be found under the bonnet: while the production version of the BMW Z4 is driven by a six-cylinder engine, the GT3 car is powered by a 4.4-litre V8. BMW Motorsport engineers have also fine-tuned the aerodynamics of the BMW Z4 GT3, added a revised ECU unit and added paddle shifters for the 6-speed sequential transmission. The Z4 GT3′s safety cell is constructed using extremely rigid, precision steel tubing, which is welded into the body. The front and rear wings, bonnet, roof, fenders and many other components are all made of carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP).
If you would like to go racing and have enough money to burn, then you’ll be pleased to know the BMW Z4 GT3 is now available for purchase through BMW Motorsport and is priced at €315 000.
