Land Rover Defender Updates For 2013

2013 Land Rover Defender

The Land Rover Defender has been given a few updates for its new model year. The Defender has been around for what seems like eons, but incremental updates over the years have improved the breed.

For 2013 the Land Rover Defender can be had in two new colours, Barolo Black and Havana. In addition, there are four new contrasting colour choices for the roof, Santorini Black, Indus Silver, Orkney Grey or Firenze Red.

Interior updates aim to bring a little more comfort to the front passengers, with the addition of a new body-hugging seat design, partially dressed in leather with the Land Rover logo on the backrest. A new sound system is also available, which includes hands-free Bluetooth connectivity for one’s cellphone, as well as a 150-Watt subwoofer and better quality speakers.

There are no changes in the engine bay for 2013, meaning the Defender is still powered by its trusty 2.2-litre turbo-diesel that delivers 90 kW and 360 Nm of torque. For what it’s worth, the Defender accelerates from 0 – 100 km/h in 14.7 seconds and has a top speed of 145 km/h. Combined cycle fuel economy is a claimed 11.1 L/100km, with CO2 emissions of 295 g/km.

The updated Land Rover Defender is already available in the UK, with local availability to follow shortly. The 2012 Defender is currently priced from R395 300.
