Lexus LF-NX Compact Crossover Concept

The Lexus LF-NX compact crossover concept will be shown at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA). Powered by Lexus’ hybrid powertrain technology, the LF-NX is said to deliver a mix of power and economy while being tuned for SUV performance.

The LF-NX concept’s exterior reflects a further evolution of the Lexus L-finesse design language, with sculpted exterior panels and a low stance. The front is dominated by the now signature Lexus spindle grille, arrowhead inspired Daytime Running Lights (DRLs), as well as an aggressive vertical cut on either side of the bumper to signify where it ends and the front fenders begin.

A diamond-shaped belt line characterises the LF-NX concept’s profile, while the glasshouse creates a coupe-like silhouette. Adding a nod to its SUV pretentions are black-trimmed wheel arches. Around the back, the taillight units have been styled to project down into the bumper, thereby creating an edgy and aerodynamic tail-end.

The Lexus LF-NX concept is finished in a brushed metal silver colour, while the interior boasts a driver-focused cockpit and ergonomic environment modelled on the detailed exterior. The dashboard is divided into an upper display zone and lower operation zone – a common design theme within Lexus. Setting the LF-NX apart, however, is the ‘Sunrise’ yellow/black leather accented upholstery with contrast stitching and blue instrument lighting.

No details of the LF-NX’s hybrid powertrain have been released yet, but we can expect more detail following the concept’s Frankfurt debut.
