The team at Wimmer Rennsporttechnik Solingen (Wimmer RS) is known for its Porsche GT2 tuning package and recently they’ve unveiled an update. Wimmer RS created the GT2 Speed Bi-Turbo, which delivers a performance upgrade resulting in 608 kW at 7 400 rpm and 948 N.m of torque.
The increased power means the tuner from Solingen has managed to endow the GT2 Speed with a power-to-weight-ratio of 1.84 kg/hp and a maximum speed of 378 km/h. Of course, one who has ever had an opportunity to drive a Porsche GT2 will hardly complain about the lack of engine performance, but Wimmer still found some room for improvement. The acceleration of the GT2 Speed Bi-Turbo is 3.38 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h. Within 8.54 seconds the Porsche reaches more than double the speed. The speed of 300 km/h is reached within 20.2 seconds.
The Wimmer GT2 Speed Bi-Turbo power package includes modifications to the engine block, pistons, piston rods, injection nozzles, sports camshafts, inlet system, throttle valve and the installation of an intercooler. Wimmer even uses new engine software. The most important additions are two high performance turbochargers, as well as a sport exhaust system, together with the welded exhaust manifold and twin-exhausts.
Other goodies include a carbon fibre rear lip spoiler, carbon fibre rear-view mirrors, H&R sport springs, and 20-inch Sportec wheels outfitted with Dunlop Sport Maxx GT tyres – size 235/30 up front and 325/25 out back.
Set to be unveiled at the ‘09 Essen Motor Show, the Wimmer RS GT2 Speed will be priced from EUR281 000.

Avus Performance has unveiled a new tuning package for the Audi TT-RS.
Dubbed the “new Ur-Quattro,” the car features a modified ECU, a revised turbocharger, and a high performance exhaust system with racing catalysts. While this doesn’t sound like much, the changes enable the 2,5-litre five-cylinder engine to produce 338 kW and more than 639 N.m of torque. In terms of performance, the car accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in around 3.8 seconds and the top speed is an astonishing 312 km/h.
For comparison, the standard TT-RS ‘only’ has 250 kW and 450 N.m of torque. It runs from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds, before topping out at an electronically limited 250km/h.
Avus also equipped the car with an adjustable coilover suspension, a matt black vinyl wrap and gloss black 20-inch Sportec Mono wheels, outfitted with 255/30 20-inch Hankook S1 Evo tyres.

Swiss tuning house, Sportec, are going head-to-head with rival 9ff. A short while ago we brought you news of 9ff’s 384 km/h Porsche 911 GT2 but now Sportec have replied.

The standard Porsche 911 Turbo’s 353 kW 3,6-litre bi-turbocharged flat six is by no means a slouch, but where there’s power, there’s always space for even more power. Or at least that’s what Porsche tuning specialist Sportec believes. The Swiss based tuner revealed a new version of its 911 Turbo based SPR1 that lifts the 3,6-litre flat six’s output to a staggering 631 kW at 8 200 rpm and 870 N.m of peak torque at 4 800 rpm. Power is transferred to all four wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox.
Weighing in at 1 345 kg, the power-to-weight ratio is 468 kW per ton. According to Sportec, the SPR1 takes a mere 3 seconds to hit 100 km/h, with 300 km/h arriving in just 18.9 seconds. The Swiss firm said that the supercar has recorded a top speed in excess of 380 km/h at Nardo, Italy.
Other highlights of the SPR1 include titanium connecting rods, a flat carbon fibre under floor, active suspension and F1 style ceramic brake discs plus composite (carbon/Kevlar) body panels, 20-inch forged alloy wheels, an integrated safety cage and a leather/alcantara interior.
Where will the madness end?! We say bring it on.

Tuning specialist Sportec has turned its attention on the Volkswagen Scirocco with the release of a new performance package. Among other things, Sportec’s program consists of engine upgrades, a sports suspension, alloy wheels and other components. For the Scirocco 2.0 TFSI, Sportec offers various performance options that boost the 2.0-litre turbocharged engine’s output from 179kW to 260kW. In the most powerful version, the maximum torque takes a massive leap from 280 to 480Nm.
To achieve these figures, Sportec’s engineers modified the 2.0 TFSI’s turbocharger, updated the ECU and replaced the standard exhaust system with a new free flowing one. A carbon-fiber engine cover completes the package.
To improve the Scirocco’s handling, Sportec developed a new sports suspension that brings the coupe 35mm closer to the ground along with new 20″ alloy wheels shod in 245/30 high-performance sport tyres.
