Nismo R35 GT-R Tuning Package

Posted on 10 February 2009 by Scott

When the expected August 20th release date came and went, there was much speculation as to when Nismo would be providing details on its highly anticipated tuning package, for the R35 GT-R. Thankfully the wait is now over.

An official press release from Nissan’s performance arm, reveals the ‘Club Sport’ tuning package, a package designed to improve the handling, performance and visuals of your new R35 GT-R. At this stage parts are only available in Japan and can only be fitted at one of twelve Nismo ExpertShops in Japan. For ?5,460,000, that’s around R385 000, you”ll receive the following items fully installed and ready to go.

* Nismo 20 inch Rays lightweight forged aluminum wheels
* Nismo Recaro SP-X CL100 Carbon/Leather seats
* Nismo Titanium muffler
* Nismo Carbon Fibre Rear Diffuser
* Nismo Sports Suspension
* Nismo Badging

For those not looking for the whole shebang, Nismo will also offer smaller packages depending on which area of the car you’d like to improve.

The ?2,205,000 (approx R146 000) Chassis package includes the suspension plus wheels and tyres and cannot be broken down further for those wanting one or the other. Three mode-switchable Bilstein Damptronic suspension is the weapon of choice for handling duties while Rays 20-inch forged aluminum monoblock wheels and Bridgestone Tires handle the grip and looks departments. The front end receives 255/40 ZRF20 tyres while the rear end cops massive 285/35 ZRF20 rubber. As a result of the rim and tyre package the front end sheds 1.6kgs with the back saving 1.4kgs. For the technically curious, Nismo list the spring rates for the new suspension setup at 18.5kg/mm up front with 9.6kg/mm in the rear.

For a mere ?1,890,000 (approx. R126 000) you can select either the Carbon Bucket Seats package or the Titanium Exhaust System package. The seat package comprises Nismo-badged Recaro leather-wrapped carbon fibre racing seats while the exhaust package includes the lightweight titanium exhaust plus the carbon-fibre rear diffuser. 5kgs is dropped by installing the exhaust but no weight saving information is mentioned for the seats.

Anxious buyers will need to wait until September 30th before getting their hands on the Club Sport package. We expect that various importers will be busy working on how best to get the items out of Japan for global consumption. At around R385 000 it does seem a little rich but the chance to tune the GT-R, while retaining full factory support is hard to overlook.
