According to a letter from an existing McLaren MP4-12C owner, the company will be rolling out a couple of updates to its supercar, which will also be retro-fitted to the cars of existing customers at their local dealership for no additional cost.
The ‘Dear Phil’ letter was posted to the owner’s online forum, McLarenDriver.com, and signed by McLaren Automotive’s Managing Director Antony Sheriff, who states, “The power output of your 12C will increase by 25 PS to a class leading 625 PS (460 kW). Our development team has re-engineered the mapping of the 12C engine to give your car a performance upgrade with significantly improved responsiveness. The 12C’s remarkable CO2 emissions and fuel efficiency figures are unchanged.”
In addition to the increased output, McLaren will also be making some changes requested by customers. These include remote opening of the passenger door, a programmable engine note, enhanced equalization options for the Meridian surround sound system, as well as an upgraded IRIS infotainment system.
The introduction of the changes is scheduled to coincide with the launch of the McLaren MP4-12C Spider, which is set for a debut at the 2012 Bebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in August.
