Auzzie Limited Edition Impreza WRX Club Spec

Subaru WRX Club Spec

The BRZ, Subaru’s first rear-wheel drive sports car, is receiving plenty of press at the moment. It is moving the Japanese marque, mostly renowned for its all-wheel-drive rally and road cars, in a totally new direction and back onto the petrolheads most wanted list.

The car that everyone associates Subaru with, however, is still the Impreza WRX. Limited edition Subarus used to be quite common, but since the last one lost its figure, turbocharging became a tool for saving fuel and all-wheel drive traction became passe, the Impreza has lost some of its sparkle. Never mind the fact that the current WRX STI version is still the fastest Subaru to ever lap the Nurburgring. Well, at least Subaru of Australia hasn’t forgotten their loyalty to the Impreza WRX and they’ve come up with a 300-unit limited edition Impreza WRX Club Spec.

The Club Spec retains the car’s standard 195 kW and 343 Nm output, but it will only come with a manual transmission; and quite rightly so! The two colour options are black and tangerine, with an STI spoiler, black door mirrors, numbered Club Spec badges and 17-inch black wheels. On the inside, the Club Spec adds orange leather and stitching on the seats and steering wheel. An STI body kit is available at an extra cost to the owner, although the cost is reduced compared to the normal STI body kit pricing.

Our two cents worth is that Subaru Australia obviously appreciates the demand for BRZ will be great when it arrives and they’re doing all they can to move their WRX’s while they can. Good on ya. We hope their South African counter parts follow suit.
