American rappers are always going on about Hennessey, which is of course a cognac. Yes that is correct, however, US tuner, Hennessey Performance is a whole other type of American. They don’t have time for rapping and whiskey, they like their cars fast, hard and a little bit vicious, as anyone who has seen their work on any Dodge Viper knows.
The Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG has just received an upgrade kit from Hennessey Performance that makes it look quite a lot like a Cadillac CTS-V if you ask us. We do like it, however, and it makes the monster E63 AMG look a little less like it might be a German taxi shuttle car.
The American tuners have developed a program for the E63 AMG that goes more than skin deep and provides a healthy power boost to match the macho cosmetic changes. It is indeed an upgrade to fit any and all new 5.5-litre twin-turbo AMG engines. The result is an increase in output to a monstrous 522 kW at 5 200 r/min and peak torque of 1 080 Nm at 3 800 r/min. Say what? AMG’s own Performance Pack is pretty astonishing as is, but we must give the Americans credit here.
Hennessey are calling their latest work the HPE700 package (for 700 horsepower) consists of a new air induction system and engine management, easy peasy. Optional upgrades they can supply your E63 AMG with are a premium wheel and tyre packages, suspension upgrades and carbon fibre trim accessories, like the one pictured on the rear spoiler. The whole kit also offers Hennessey exterior badging and plaques with a unique serial number placed on the dash and engine. The tuning program is even offered with a 3-year warranty.
