We’ve seen many different Nissan GT-R tuning efforts of late. Some were inspired by the vicious samurai sword, the Ketana; some were inspired by the fastest man on earth, Usain Bolt; and now a Chinese owner is dedicating his GT-R to the year of the dragon.
A tuning company by the name of Vilner who specialise in interiors, received an order from a Chinese Nissan GT-R owner who wanted something a little bit special for his interior. Since 2012 is the year of the dragon, it’s a pretty good fit at the end of the day and most certainly in keeping with the mythical performance of the Nissan GT-R beast too.
The interior treatment includes embroidery on the headliner and in the boot of the GT-R, together with a combination of black Alcantara and black carbon-look-alike-leather; like you’ll find on the Jaguar XKR-S. The project designer from Vilner wanted the body of the dragon to be transmitted by embroideries, winding around the seats and passing through the centre console. Every single element of the dragon body was hand-drawn by the designer personally. Carbon was used for the steering wheel and the gear shifter, with some of the details finished in red chrome.
The GT-R has also been wrapped by Vilner with a white matte foil, along with swapping the standard exhaust pipes for custom titanium items. This provides a modest power increase over the car’s original output, although this tuning effort by Vilner is clearly more an exercise in style over substance. We also can’t help but think somewhere Godzilla must be a little annoyed that he didn’t crack the nod as the celebrated beast on this particular car. When is the year of the Godzilla again?
