Audi Goes Black With New A6 And A7 Limited Edition

Audi A6 Black Series

We’ve been seeing this phenomenon more and more from local Audi drivers. The compulsion to take their standard cars and tint the windows, black out the front and rear light casings and maybe even go the whole hog and apply a matte-black finish to the paint work. We can’t quite understand it, but there is clearly a trend developing.

It’s a trend Ingolstadt is trying to capitalise on too with its new ‘Black Edition’, which has just launched in Europe and the UK. It is a new trim level Audi offers for the A6, A6 Avant and the A7 Sportback. It differs from normal models in terms of equipment and a couple of visual modifications, such as the blacked-out grille, darker headlights, window surrounds, privacy glass and a new set of ‘rotor-design’ titanium wheels.

The dark titanium finish wheels are either offered in 20-inch diameter for the A6 models, or a whopping 21-inches for the A7 Sportback. They are complemented with lowered suspension in the A6 and lowered S-Line suspension in the A7. The Black theme continues on the inside, with Piano Black inlays on the fascia, sports seats upholstered in black leather and a black headlining. Everything under the bonnet remains the same as the standard A6 and A7 Sportback models.

As far as interior equipment is concerned, Black Edition models come pretty much loaded to the hilt with standard equipment, including a Bose audio system, satellite navigation, Xenon headlights, automatic lights and wipers, as well as the Audi parking system. A7 models gain a bit of extra kit, including a power tailgate, electrically adjustable front seats and a powered retractable rear spoiler.
