In more 2012 SEMA news from Las Vegas, Cosworth has teamed up with M & J Enterprises and Ford Racing for a concept Ford Focus ST. It’s known as the Cosworth CS 330, which stands for 330 horsepower naturally, and that’s what you get when you let the new Ford Focus ST loose in the capable hands of famed Ford tweakers, Cosworth.
Now that Ford has united its European and American performance divisions, its go-faster models can please an even larger number of hot hatch enthusiasts on both sides of the Atlantic ocean. The CS 330 still makes use of the Ford Focus ST 2.0-litre, EcoBoost, direct-injected engine, except Cosworth upgraded the engine management and optimised the exhaust and induction systems to what they call a Stage One upgrade, for ‘streetable’ machines.
Other enhancements include Ford Racing performance parts, like coil over suspension and an upgraded braking system. The wheel and tyre combo are Cosworth RS2000 19-inch items British aftermarket developer Kahn. They ditch the standard Goodyear Eagles and are fitted with Pirelli P-Zero rubber all around.
“The CS 330 SEMA concept car is an opportunity we could not miss,” stated Nicole Armbrustmacher, Director of Marketing of Cosworth Americas. “The CS 330 project with M & J Enterprises and Ford Racing demonstrate our engineering strength at taking a production engine platform to a racing performance level.”
