Ford Focus WTCC Special Edition

A special edition Ford Focus WTCC hot-hatch has been created by World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) race team Arena. Usually an initiative like this would come from a manufacturer’s regional division, such as the UK, but although Arena has unveiled the car in the UK, it will offered in other world markets too.

Firstly, there’s no ‘ST’ badge involved here, so the car is based on the UK-market Ford Focus Zetec S, which is powered by a 1.6-litre EcoBoost engine with 132 kW, has a 0 – 100 km/h sprint time of 7.9 seconds and a top speed of 222 km/h. The WTCC ‘package’ incorporates a Mountune MP200 upgrade, which hikes power to 149 kW and 320 Nm of torque.

In addition to the performance boost, the Focus WTCC also looks racier thanks to larger 18-inch alloy wheels fitted with 235/40 profile tyres, a ‘Frost White’ exterior paint job and blue WTCC exterior graphics. The interior has been given various bits of carbon fibre trim, together with special floor mats and unique door sill plates.

As Ford South Africa does not currently offer the 1.6-litre turbocharged Zetec S engine locally, it’s unlikely that the Arena-inspired Focus WTCC will land on our shores.
