In addition to the 2 Series Convertible spied this week, the upcoming BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo was also caught on camera, but completely undisguised, during filming for a new TV commercial.
Based on the 3 Series F30 platform, the F34 3 Series GT looks sharper and sleeker than the 5 Series GT, especially the roof line and the tail end. The images show a ‘Modern Line’ specification model, as well as a M Sport version.
Both vehicles feature a new side vent on the front fenders, which is likely to improve brake cooling and airflow down the side of the car, while a retractable boot spoiler is also said to be a feature of the tailgate. As with existing M Sport models, the 3 Series GT M Sport receives unique front and rear bumpers, side skirts, 18-inch wheels and blue M Performance brake calipers.
Expect the choice of engines to be lifted straight from the 3 Series catalog, with the same 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol and diesel engines, as well as the 3.0-litre straight-six from the 335i. BMW’s excellent 8-speed Steptronic transmission will link the rear wheels, while all-wheel drive, xDrive, models are expected in European and other foreign markets.
The new BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo is expected to make its official debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show in March.
