Jeep have made admirable improvements to the interior fit and quality of materials in recent years, but Volkswagen has had this aspect covered for many more.
There is no denying the Jeep’s value-for-money proposition, but we’re not sure it would have much of an edge over the Volkswagen on dirt and certainly not on the tarmac.
We still think the VW has the edge on build quality and road holding, and who can forget the Jeep’s moose test controversy?! We’d probably pay the premium for a full-spec Touareg TDI V6 over the all-in Grand Cherokee CRD V6, in the same way we’d choose a Porsche Cayenne over a Mercedes-Benz ML.
