There are extreme cars and then there is the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6. Based on the G-Wagen, which appears to be relatively humble when compared to this massive six-wheeler, the Stuttgart-based manufacturer has announced this G-Class-based beast, is officially their most expensive production vehicle. The 410 kW and 780 Nm 5.5-litre Bi-Turbo V8 beast gains a sticker price in Germany of €451 010 (R6.1-million).
The 6×6 G-Wagen starts life as a hand built vehicle, in Austria, but unlike any other vehicle with the three pointed Mercedes Benz star, it has over 6 400 manual welds affected to its steel ladder chassis and this makes it virtually indestructible, the Austrians claim. Mercedes-Benz is confident it is “the most limitless off road capable vehicle ever made.” And Austro-Germans do tend to be rather bullish in their ambitions: Hitler and the governor of California spring to mind.
The Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6 is actually more expensive than an SLS AMG Electric Drive supercar and as a result we predict the G63 AMG 6×6 will be right at home for millionaire, desert-roaming oil sheiks in the Gulf region. In fact, the only thing more impressive than the 6×6 is the ridiculous Brabus version that made an appearance at the recent Frankfurt International Motor Show.
The Brabus B63S-700 boasts the same 5.5-litre V8 Bi-Turbo but with 515 kW and 980 Nm of torque. Two special Brabus turbochargers with a larger compressor unit, a tweaked ECU, and a stainless-steel sports exhaust see that the 3 775 kg beast gets all the impetus it needs. Pricing for the B63S-700 has not been announced by Brabus but we suggest you start saving up for your Arab Uncle’s Christmas present.
