Video: Ford Fusion Hybrid Autonomous Prototypes

Ford have developed a fleet of autonomous Fusion Hybrid sedan prototypes. The self-driving vehicles build upon the technologies already found in Ford’s ‘parts bin’ – such as park distance control, park assist and adaptive cruise control – and combine with a ‘light detection and range’ (LIDAR) system that provides 360 degree high-definition visibility for the car’s computer system. Ford estimate the first examples of their autonomous vehicles will be on the road closer to 2025, which is some way behind Mercedes-Benz with their S-Class or Volvo with their V40.
