First Look: 2014 Honda Jazz

Honda-Jazz (1)

The Honda Jazz is the city car everyone with even a modicum of sense always goes out and buys. That’s why the Jazz can stake claim to having the oldest average driver age for any city car. The new Jazz will be an all-new model, with a new platform, interior and body, and a new engine range. The new model will be more spacious too, with Honda confirming an increase in rear legroom, overall length, width and height.

This of course means the new model is highly anticipated and gets, amongst other drivetrains, a new hybrid and dual-clutch gearbox too. Honda claim its flagship eco model will return upwards of 2.9 L/100 km. This will trounce the current Jazz IMA Hybrid and its closest Japanese competitor, the Yaris Hybrid, which returns a piffling 3.5 L/100 km.

Expect it to arrive in European showrooms before the end of 2014 and in local showrooms by 2015 with a 1.3-litre 4-cylinder for starters, a larger 1.5-litre with hybrid assistance and the usual range of CVT and manual transmissions to join the clever clogs dual-clutch mentioned earlier.
