Porsche GT models will remain normally aspirated
Here at SACarFan we’re serious. We don’t believe in pranking our motoring readers so when we say the next range of Porsche 911 GT models will remain normally aspirated, we do so with hand on heart. Well as far as any motoring vow can be honoured when it coming to defying global and ecological trends.
While the rest of the Porsche range obliges to turbo charging volume models, bespoke models bearing the GT nameplate will be normally aspirated. The latest 4.0 litre in the GT3 RS is likely to be at the centre of this decision.
Andreas Preuninger, manager of Porsche High Performance Cars said, “GT3s are normally aspirated – period”. When asked how he’d managed to except his cars from the new general rule of turbo 911s, he said: “When everyone goes in one direction, I like to go in the other direction.”
He then added that he was making a case for GT models to return to manual transmission after the most recent GT3 was offered with dual clutch PDK only. “We have been talking about it [reintroducing a manual ’box] and I hope I have the ear of the board,” he said.
