More technology and greater value are the cornerstones behind the 2015 Ford Figo expected to arrive in South Africa later this year.
The Ford Figo which was launched here in 2010 has consistently been one of the segment’s best performers, holding (on average) a 15 per cent share of the sub B-segment category. That is against much-newer competitors.
The latest version of the Ford Figo will be available in a choice of two body styles; the familiar five-door hatchback will be joined for the first time by a four-door sedan.
Although exact specification is still to be confirmed, technologies like the Ford SYNC multimedia system will form the cabin’s central point of operation and improved levels of occupant safety will include full-length side airbags.
Styling is rounder, the grille appears narrower than on the Ford Fiesta and the lights have been stretched around the front corners. As for engines, petrol and diesel variants will be offered across a choice of automatic and manual transmissions. We expect the 1.0-litre Ecoboost to make up the majority of sales and wonder whether any normally aspirated engines will make it through product planning.
