The Essen Motor Show is where Lorinser will unveil their modified C450 AMG 4MATIC to the public which closes the gap to the mighty C63 AMG.
Not for the first time Lorinser’s affiliation with Mercedes has yielded another creative result which is unlikely appeal to everyone.
For roughly R100 000 Lorinser will fit a new front bumper with several prominent curves and air vents, a new rear spoiler, upgraded pipes and swept black wing mirrors. A 30mm lowering kit dials up the drama and 19-inch wheels covered with 225/40 R19 front and 255/35 R19 rear rubber handles the stance. For a bit more of your cash Lorinser will bolt on a set of 20-inch wheels.
And bigger wheels do come in handy with the C450’s engine now rated at 320kW and 620Nm – a figure that’s up from the car’s standard output of 270kW and 520Nm. Almost matching the Mercedes C63 for grunt, Lorinser’s R20 000 horsepower upgrade is great value.
We don’t know the exact details behind this liberated horsepower but it will most likely involve upgraded software and better management of cool air and hot exhaust gasses. After Lorinser’s tuning the C450 reaches 100km/h in roughly 4.6 seconds, an improvement of 0.3 seconds.
Our advice? Get the engine tuned up but skip the bodywork.
