Akrapovic and more carbon for Alfa 4C

An optional carbon fibre package for all Alfa 4C models headed to US and Canadian markets is now on sale and it wouldn’t be far wrong to assume that these upgrades will spread to other markets including South Africa.

Already decked out in carbon fibre from the monocoque upwards, the optional carbon fibre package can be identified by the additional carbon fibre to the convertible’s roll over bars while vent surrounds, shift paddles and instrument cluster receive similar treatment.

But carbon fibre isn’t the only material inside the new cabin; American markets will have access to a more premium leather finish on the seats and they’re bound to be an improvement over the very firm ones in the current Alfa 4C.

The infuriating radio system (the volume button on our test car had several spasms) is now one of Alpine’s better systems and includes greater functionality like Bluetooth and audio streaming. The speakers have been upgraded, and you’re about to read why.

Although the 1.7-litre turbo engine sees no upgrades, Alfa is offering a carbon-tipped Akrapovic exhaust with electronically controlled valves operated through the car’s current DNA switch. This is a precursor to the optional Track Pack adds high performance shock absorbers, thicker front and rear sway bars and sticky Pirelli P Zero tyres.

A poignant set of upgrades that won’t dilute the 4C’s very niche appeal and that Akrapovic system must sound absolutely sinister.
