Missed Project 7? F-Type SVR makes SA debut.

Making its debut at the Festival of Motoring at Kyalami, British marque JLR formally introduced the F-Type SVR to the South African public. JLR has been able to squeeze the supercharged engine from the Range Rover SVR into the F-Type thus making the most powerful F-Type to ever legally hit our roads.

The F-Type lurks Jaguar’s 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine which adopts some of its calibration from the exclusive Project 7. Power is rated at 423kW and 700Nm compared to the already potent 405kW 680Nm F-Type R coupe AWD.

According to JLR, the enlarged air intakes in the front bumper together with revised charge air coolers and redesigned bonnet vents deliver corresponding improvements in cooling system performance and powertrain efficiency.

Power is accessible through an eight-speed Quickshift transmission that sends power to all four wheels giving the 25kg lighter F-Type SVR a sprint from zero to 100km/h in 3.7 seconds whereas the slouch of previous best F-Type needed 4.1 seconds and could only do 300km/h – 22km/h off this new car’s ballistic top end.

The interior of the F-Type SVR features the latest infotainment system which supports the latest wearable technology, cosseting 14-way SVR Performance seats finished in Jet Black leather with a distinctive Lozenge Quilt pattern, contrast stitching and headrests embossed with the SVR logo. Customers also have the option of Siena Tan or Red leather.

The F-Type SVR carries a price tag of R2 134 100.
