Renowned tuning houses Brabus and RENNtech have both released new tuning packages for the already potent C63 AMG.
Brabus’ new B63 S performance kit consists of free-flow high-performance metal catalysts, sport air filters and newly programmed ECU with custom mapping for ignition and injection. Together these components result in an increase over the standard 6.2-litre V8’s output from 336kW to 390kW, while peak torque grows from 600Nm to 650Nm.
According to Brabus, the sprint from zero to 100km/h is shortened from 4.5 to 4.1 seconds while 200km/h is reached after 13.1 seconds, down from 14.5 seconds. Buyers can choose between two versions of the Brabus Vmax unit that allow the B63 S to reach a top speed of 300 or 315km/h.
In addition to the performance kit, Brabus also offers a wide range of accessories for the C63 AMG including a limited-slip rear differential, 19-inch wheels complete with Yokohama or Pirelli high-performance tires in size 235/35 in front and 265/30 on the rear axle, a height-adjustable coil-over suspension and 380mm brake discs with 12-piston aluminum fixed calipers on the front axle and 360mm discs with 6-piston aluminum fixed calipers on the rear.
Rated at 408kW and 785Nm of torque, the 6.2-litre V8 in the RENNtech C63 AMG tops the factory-tuned model by about 20%, or 70kW and its Brabus counterpart by 18kW and a whopping 135Nm.
The power gains come from an all-new exhaust system, including stainless-steel long-tube headers, track-oriented pipes and mufflers, plus a reworked ECU. To contain all the extra power RENNtech also upgrades the suspension and fits a new brake package.
Fully adjustable dampers with adjustable camber settings mean the vehicle really can be tuned for the track, or multiple tracks, giving this car a sporting potential many overpowered tuner-cars lack. The upgraded brake package fits right in line with the track-day aspirations of the rest of the car, offering tremendous brake torque and fade resistance with 15.2-inch two-piece rotors and custom RENNtech calipers. Stainless-steel braided lines ensure solid pedal feel while a pair of carbon-fiber brake ducts help improve ventilation to keep braking consistent lap after lap.
