BMW has released a factory tuning package for its N54 twin-turbo engine, found under the hood of the 135i and 335i models.
Though the press release refers only to the German market, expect the performance power kit to be available to most of Europe and the US soon.
Releasing the extra power is an engine management upgrade and air intake modification. However the performance upgrades are not the result of some simple ECU chipping job and include an additional radiator, fronted by a high-flow veined fan for extra cooling.
The sum total is a power boost from 225kW to 240kW and 30Nm of extra torque – now peaking at 430Nm. If owners install the kit in an automatic 335i or 135i, the torque peak is bumped up by another 20Nm to 450Nm. BMW claims the performance power kit fitted to a 335i, should make for a zero to 100km/h time of 5.4 seconds, a gain of 0.2 seconds over the standard car.
