Alfa Romeo is expected to unveil a concept version of their MiTo at the AutoRAI motor show in Amsterdam in mid-April. Known as the Veloce, it is destined to slot in between the base version MiTo and the GTA, if brought to production.
The new Alfa Romeo MiTo Veloce would get yet another modified version of the company’s 1.4-litre turbocharged engine, that would see an increase to about 132kW. These numbers are very similar to those seen in the Fiat Grande Punto Abarth SS, but it is unclear if the modifications are identical. In contrast, the MiTo GTA gets 170kW from a 1.8 litre turbo motor, and the best known offering for the almost on-sale MiTo line is a 1.4-litre JTB four cylinder turbo with around 110kW and 230Nm of torque.
The engine tuning will help the Veloce to a zero to 100km/h time of just under 7.5 seconds. It is speculated to get new shocks, and some new decals as well. It also also wouldn’t be surprising to see some sporty bodywork changes along with the new alloy wheels, as seen in the spy photo’s below.
