General Motors South Africa (GMSA) has announced the addition of a 2,0-litre turbo diesel powered variant to the popular Chevrolet Cruze range.
The single overhead camshaft, 16-valve, intercooled turbo diesel produces 110 kW and peak torque of 320 Nm from 2 000 r/min. Drive to the front wheels is through a 5-speed manual transmission.
Fuel consumption for the new Cruze 2.0D LT is a claimed 5.7 l/100km on the combined cycle, while emissions are 150 g/km of CO2.
We’ve driven the diesel-powered Cruze briefly and from our initial impressions the engine seems quite lively for a diesel and pulls the car along without any effort.
The Cruze 2.0D LT joins the petrol line-up of 1,6- and 1,8-litre engines in either ‘L’, ‘LS’ or ‘LT’ specification level.
With its LT specification level, the new Cruze 2.0D LT offers a multitude of luxury features including: six airbags; 6-CD sound system; leather covered steering wheel with satellite audio controls; leather seat covers; dual-zone climate-control air conditioning; rear park assist; rain sensing windscreen wipers and cruise control. The new Cruze rolls on 17-inch alloy wheels with 215/50 profile tyres.
