First Details Of The Brabus Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG

German tuner Brabus has revealed the first details of their tuning program for the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.

The front fascia of the SLS has the new Brabus front spoiler. The spoiler further reduces lift on the front axle at high speeds. The two Brabus covers for the upper air inlets in the bumper make for better cooling. The new air outlets for the front fenders feature integrated blue-illuminated Brabus lettering. The illumination is activated via the keyless-entry remote or by pulling on a door handle.

The rear the Mercedes SLS AMG features a Brabus rear spoiler and a new diffuser, with cutouts for the bespoke Brabus sport exhaust system. All components are available either made from clear-coated carbon fibre or can be painted to match, or contrast, the car’s exterior colour.

The Brabus SLS wears a new set of forged aluminium wheels, which are 12 percent lighter than those of the standard SLS. The front wheels are 20-inch in diameter and are wrapped in 275/30 profile rubber, while out back the Brabus SLS is fitted with a 21-inch, 295/25 profile wheel and tyre combination.

Brabus has fitted height adjustable suspension, capable of lowering the SLS by up to 40 mm. At the push of a button the driver can choose between damper settings that offer a more comfortable or sportier ride compared to the production suspension. To complement this suspension Brabus will soon offer the Brabus Front Lift system that raises the front of the car by 50 mm to help navigate safely over steep parking ramps or other obstacles.

While engine tuning for the 6.3-litre V8 is still in the final development phase, a light weight titanium sport exhaust system is available. This exhaust system weighs 12 kgs or 40 percent less than the production exhaust and Brabus claims it adds an extra 7 kW to the engine’s output.

Inside, the Brabus SLS features a new speedometer with 400 km/h indicated top speed – although opting for this might be a little premature, considering the standard car’s 317 km/h top speed and the fact that Brabus’s exhaust adds just 7 kW extra. An ergonomically shaped sport steering wheel is also part of the Brabus package, as are stainless-steel scuff plates with illuminated Brabus logo and custom pedals.

As always, Brabus offer interior trim specific to the owners requests. Carbon fibre and wood trim sets, in any colour and with any desired surface finish, are available. The same goes for the car’s leather and alcantara trim.
