Land Rover Freelander 2 Updated For 2011

Land Rover is upgrading the 2011 Freelander 2 with a more powerful 2,2-litre turbo diesel engine, sharper exterior looks and a smarter cabin.

Both quieter and more refined than its predecessor, the 2,2-litre turbo diesel is available with either a 110 kW TD4 engine or a 140 kW SD4 varient. In both derivatives, the engine offers an impressive 420 Nm of torque (20 Nm more than the outgoing models) while offering improved fuel economy and CO2 emissions. The TD4 is available with a revised manual transmission with Stop/Start technology as standard, while the 140 kW SD4 is available with a revised six-speed automatic .

Exterior design changes include a new front bumper and grille, as well as new alloy wheels and colour options to give the 2011 Freelander a fresh look.

Inside, a new range of seat styles and instrumentation set the 2011 Freelander 2 aside from previous models. Another small but significant change is to the Land Rover logo, which changes colour for 2011 from gold on green to a more contemporary bright silver on green.

The updated Freelander 2 is expected to be released in South Africa in November 2010.
