General Motors has opened the box on its 2012 Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback, ahead of its Geneva unveiling next month.
As expected, the five-door Cruze closely matches the Cruze Hatchback concept shown in September last year, arriving in production form with almost identical styling. Despite its seemingly smaller shape, Chevrolet says luggage capacity in the rear of the Cruze Hatchback is “close” to the 400-litre capacity of the Cruze sedan, and the rear seats feature a 60/40 split fold.
Local details have yet to be revealed, although it is likely that the five-door Cruze Hatchback will share its trim and engine options with the sedan. The Cruze sedan is currently offered in South Africa with either a 88 kW 1.6-litre or 105 kW 1.8-litre petrol engine, or 110 kW 2.0 litre diesel powerplant.
