Peugeot has revealed a new sports SUV concept prior to its official unveiling at the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show. The Peugeot SXC Crossover Concept was designed in Shanghai China Tech Center and was created to suit the Chinese market.
The SXC is a blend of modern automotive Chinese styling and traditional Peugeot design. It features a high wasteline, multiple-contour door skins and very sharp panel cuts and lights. It was also created keeping typical sedan styling in mind while accommodating for a high-driving SUV undercarriage. The SXC Concept is powered by Peugeot’s Hybrid4 technology, which includes a 1.6-litre THP petrol four-cylinder engine outputting 160 kW of power, combined with two electric motors that power both the front and rear wheels. Overall output is said to be 230 kW.
Since the SXC (sexy) Concept is a hybrid, Peugeot says it will offer an average fuel consumption rating of 5.8 L/100km. It will also emit just 143 grams of CO2 per 100km – very good figures for an SUV. Other highlights include 22-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights and LED head and tail lights, brushed aluminium details and a panoramic glass roof. It also follows the modern fashion trend of having cameras put in place of the side rear-view mirrors.
The Peugeot SXC Crossover Concept will be on display at Auto Shanghai 2011, which runs from April 19 until April 28.
