Joining the all-new 2012 BMW 3 Series at a special event in Munich last week was the new 3 Series M Sport package. It’s no M3 (that’s a year or more away), but it offers the best impression yet of the 2012 3′s sporting potential.
The 3 Series M Sport package will hit the market around the middle of next year, delivering the requisite styling and handling upgrades. On the styling front, ticking the M Sport option will get you a new and angrier front bumper, a rear diffuser and side skirts, chrome exhaust tips and a set of 18-inch alloy wheels. Under the skin, there’s stiffer anti-roll bars, sports suspension and a 10 mm lower ride height.
Inside, there’s sports seats trimmed in a cloth and Alcantara combination, blue M Sport highlights, M-badged pedals, footrest and doorsills, along with a M Sport shifter (manual models) and steering wheel design unique to the M line.
The optional M Sport package comes with options of its own, of course, including 19-inch wheels, bigger four-piston brakes at the front, adaptive suspension and electronically-controlled damping, and a unique M paint option.
As with most of the M Sport options, expect this one to join the line-up when the new 3 Series hits South Africa sometime in 2012.
