Singer, for those of you who don’t know, is an American company that restores old Porsche 911s in a unique way. Singer’s customisation process ensures each Porsche 911, (supplied by the customer), is stripped, cleaned, blasted and welded, before replacing the wings, bumpers, bonnet and roof with carbon fibre versions, as well as fitting a roll-cage.
Their most recent project is this fabulous looking Porsche 911 964 – a blend of classic styling and modern elements. The car is finished in a special Singer Racing Silver with a Ruby Red interior, which might look retro, but which are in fact made from modern materials.
Cosworth provides the powertrains for the car, of which there are three choices. The ‘Touring’ engine configuration consists of a 3.6-litre engine outputting 220 kW. ‘Sport’ is a 3.9-litre engine with a far more serious 280 kW. Finally, the range-topping ‘Cup’ engine is a 4.0-litre unit that pushes out around 312 kW.
The car shown was on display at the L.A. Auto Show and is the fourth Singer 911 built for a customer. All cars are built to order, with prices depending on the work required in achieving the finished product. As you can imagine, this won’t be a cheap exercise.
