German tuner B&B have introduced an peformance package for the 2012 Volkswagen Beetle.
Visually, there’s not much to it. You only get a set of 19 or 20-inch wheels, a high performance braking system, along with some stripes and graphics. It’s the engine lineup that’s been keeping the tuner busy.
Starting with the 1.4-litre TSI engine, B&B fiddles with the ECU software and offers an upgrade from 118 kW to 155 kW and 285 Nm, or 165 kW and 310 Nm. The next stage includes using a better turbo system and sports exhaust system, for a total output of 177 kW & 340 Nm.
The 2.0-litre turbochared engine also receives a thorough upgrade program with no less than five stages. Through a series of ECU, turbocharger, intercooler and exhausts modifications, the standard 147 kW output is raised to 177 kW, 184 kW, 195 kW, 217 kW and 235 kW. The latter enables the car to hit 100 km/h from zero in 5.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 250 km/h.
