Rumoured: McLaren MP4-12C Shooting Brake

In the high-end supercar market, Ferrari has been the most recent to introduce the shooting brake, or estate style, high-performance vehicle, but according to British mag AutoExpress, McLaren are working on a shooting brake model of their own.

Built on a carbon and aluminum chassis based on the MP4-12C model, the latest rumours suggest the car will be conceptually inspired by the Ferrari FF, but with a competitive price of around £150 000 (the Ferrari FF is £230 000). The MP4-12C shooting brake will naturally have more boot space than the MP4-12C, but will still offer the same incredible performance. That’s thanks to its lightweight carbon-fibre construction and 441 kW 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 – which will deliver 0 – 100 km/h in around three seconds and a top speed of 328 km/h.
