BMW has put an end to the war between Android Auto and Apple’s CarPlay by announcing that its cars will be compatible with both. This announcement was made by CEO Harald Krueger during a conference call for the quarterly report.

This announcement will ensure that BMW’s customers are not alienated because of their smartphone preference and will have access to all of BWW’s latest features, many of which have been designed with the intention of making the car safer and more comfortable.

Speaking about keeping customers’ data protected Krueger added, “We want our customers to be able to make full use of their smartphone’s features in the car as well. Thus, we are going to integrate Apple’s ‘CarPlay’ and Google’s ‘Android Auto’ into our vehicles. Obviously, it is not in the interest of our customers to give third-party providers access to their data. For us, the protection of our customers’ data is top priority,”

Privacy is one of the main reasons holding brands like Porsche and Mercedes from doing similar. For now the two industries are atcrossroads as to whether the phone companies or the car manufacturers have the most input.
