Say whaaat? Alfa has delayed production of its next two key models… Forgive our failure to act surprised as Alfa once again has to push back dates and leave its fans out in the cold for a little longer. That target of 400 000 units sales by 2018 is now looking impossible, not helped by just three models – one of which a highly exclusive sports car. Last year Alfa Romeo moved a scant 68 000 units.
The Alfa Romeo Giulia, which SA Car Fan examined up close at Frankfurt and questioned its interior build quality, has been delayed because of issues with refinement relating to safety and ride characteristics. Nothing wrong with the way it goes around the Nurburgring, but making it ride comfortably around town is proving a bigger concern right now. As a cautionary guess, the Alfa Romeo Giulia could arrive in South Africa towards the end of 2016.
Alfa Romeo’s compact SUV which is based around the Fiat 500X platform is now a 2017 prospect while there is little communication regarding the other six models Alfa had promised as part of its ambitious comeback.
