Lamborghini is looking to spice up its latest Huracan with the introduction of a rear-wheel drive model set to be unveiled at the upcoming Los Angeles Motor Show, with sales following soon after in 2016.
But those on the lookout for a bargain Lambo could be in for a shock: The new model could transform into a lighter variant, spilling over to greater performance and devoid of any traces of understeer. Unlike the rear-wheel drive Gallardo before it, this Lamborghini Huracan could therefore be more expensive than the existing all-wheel drive.
“We did it with the Gallardo so it might be an option. We are a four-wheel-drive super-sports car [manufacturer] but why should we not do a rear-drive option? We need lots of derivatives. Customers expect it and we always need something new to talk about,” the Italian brand’s boss Stephan Winkelmann revealed.
A limited production run of the rear-wheel drive Lamborghini Huracan could see as few as 250 units, followed by an equally small production of a rear-wheel drive Spyder.
