Jeremy Clarkson has confirmed that there will be no 2012 Top Gear season. During a recent radio interview with Sasha Martinengo, Clarkson revealed that the Top Gear Live show in Durban will be one of the few times all three presenters will be together this year.
In the interview Clarkson said, “…it is going to be, it better be absolutely fantastic, it’s also about the only time the three of us are working together this year because there’s no Top Gear on this year.”
There has been talk that the London Olympics may be to blame, but this is unconfirmed. We do know, however, that planning for season 19 has began. Recently Toyota revealed that they had began working with the BBC once again, modifying the Toyota Hilux pickup trucks.
In the meantime, the only consolation is that the team will have plenty of time to produce some excellent footage. The team is also known for producing special episodes, so don’t be surprised if we see one or two of those along with a couple of DVD’s to keep us entertained. Fingers crossed.
Check out Jeremy’s interview below. As always, it’s full of clever remarks and Clarkson didn’t waste time in trying to butter us up, declaring South African crowds the “best… in the world”. Skip to around 8:00 to hear his comment about the there being no Top Gear this season.
