The Fiat 500X has been teased at a press conference in Italy, giving the world its first look at the upcoming pavement-pounding Bambino.
The 500X will be the fifth model in the 500 range after the 500 three-door hatchback, the 500C convertible, the Abarth-branded performance versions, and more recently, the 500L five-door minivan.
With little detail, and from what we can see, the 500X manages to be a convincing cross between the 500 and 500L, with a raised ride height and enough bolt-on plastic trim to ready it for the urban jungle.
The 500X will be offered in both front wheel- and all-wheel-drive variants, while the engine line-up will likely be shared with the 500L. This means the 500X will be available with either a 0.9-litre, 2-cylinder, turbocharged TwinAir petrol, or 1.3-litre MultiJet turbocharged diesel.
The five-door, five-seat Fiat 500X is set to make its public debut at the 2012 Paris motor show in September, when more details will be revealed.
