More Affordable Suzuki Alto GA

Suzuki Auto South Africa has announced two new versions of its super-mini hatchback, the Alto. The new Suzuki Alto GA and Alto GLX replace the GL and GLS models, making the price of the smallest Suzuki even smaller.

At R97 800, the new Alto GA is now the most affordable Suzuki on the local market, while still retaining more than just the bare necessities, making it sufficient for the daily commute. Standard equipment includes: air-conditioning, power steering, dual airbags, inertia-reel seat belts and head restraints. At the same time, Suzuki say a more “contemporary” fabric has been introduced, along with new interior trim colours.

The Alto GLX caters for those looking for a few more convenience features in their city slicker ride. In addition to the GA’s standard spec, the GLX boasts: remote central locking; electric front windows; a 4-speaker radio/CD-player; ABS anti-lock brakes with electronic braking assistance (EBA) and electronic brake force distribution (EBD).

The GA and GLX can be distinguished at a glance by their 14-inch steel and alloy wheels respectively, while both are powered by the same 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine that is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. Maximum power of 50 kW and 87 Nm of torque is sent to the front wheels and carries the 850 kg Alto to a top speed of 145 km/h, with average fuel consumption of 5.7 L/100km.

The Suzuki Alto is sold with a 3-year/100 000 km warranty, while the GLX model comes standard with a 3-year/45 000 km service plan.
