Okay so it may only be two simple photographs, but Wald International has released the first pictures of their idea of a ‘Sports Line’ pack for the Toyota 86. The Toyota 86, like its 25 year old dad, the ‘Hachi-Roku,’ is certain to be a veritable hot bed for future tuning and aero part embellishment, thanks to its relatively cheap, standard platform.
None of the big Japanese tuners have revealed their plans for the 86 yet, but as we can see from the Wald Toyota 86, this particular car features a new lower slung and protruding front bumper lip, a suitably lowered ride height with accompanying wider side skirts, much bigger two toned wheels than the standard 17-inch Toyota offerings (check out these beauties from ISS Forged – Ed.), as well as a much more aggressive diffuser, quad exhaust pipe and spoiler combo at the rear.
The joy of these kits from Wald International is that they will no doubt fit the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ which are all one and the same vehicle of course. Aspects of this kit have some potential, like the lowered front end, although we’re much more interested in seeing what under the skin modifications will hold sway for future Toyota 86 tweakers. What type of tuning will prevail to get the most out of the normally aspirated, 147 kW and 205 Nm, 2.0-litre boxer mill under the bonnet? Turbocharging, supercharging, or good old fashioned porting and polishing…, we can’t wait to see…
