Tushek Renovatio T500: A Slovenian Supercar

No, a cat hasn’t just run across your keyboard, the world’s newest supercar from Slovenia is called the Renovatio T500 and it hails from a company called Tushek. We happen to think it looks brazenly brilliant and although a few pics of it have already surfaced over recent months (including this video review by Autocar – Ed.), Tushek have announced that the Renovatio T500 will make its first public appearance in the United Kingdom on September 5th at the exclusive Salon Privé.

Aside from the amazingly hard-core, hand-crafted, exterior styling that can be a closed top or removable targa-top type roof (a-la Koenigsegg CCX ), the Renovatio T500 has quite a lot to shout about from a performance point of view as well. It is powered by an Audi sourced V8 4.2-litre FSI engine with a modest, but easily usable 331 kW and 428 Nm of normally aspirated torque. That may not sound like a lot in the world of audacious, limited run supercars, but the T500 only weighs 1 133 kg and that means 0 – 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and a top speed of over 310 km/h. The mid-engined supercar also has a simple 6-speed manual gearbox and rides on 19-inch forged alloys wrapped with the must have supercar rubber, Pirelli PZero Corsas.

A lot of the cars appeal will be its light weight carbon fibre and composite bodywork, the carbon ceramic brakes and removable roof as mentioned earlier. What is less appealing perhaps is that it is based on a K1 Attack Roadster kit car and rides on an antiquated chrome-moly steel tube chassis. A kit car costing around €300 000, or approximately R3.6 million, might be a little too much to stomach for the super-rich in search of super-exclusivity. With that said, it’s still a pretty impressive first effort from Slovenia. (and don’t forget to watch the video – Ed.)
