BMW 1 M-adness: G-Power G1 V8 Hurricane RS

G-Power BMW 1 M Coupe V8

Not long ago, in August in fact, German BMW tuning specialists G-Power released their performance package for the BMW 1 M Coupé, which boasted M3 beating performance. The original G-Power 1 M Coupé squeezed 324 kW and 590 Nm from the 3.0-litre TwinPower Turbo engine, but now G-Power have gone wild. So wild, that they’ve called their new car the G1 V8 Hurricane RS.

G-Power have tossed the original car’s 3.0-litre engine aside and dropped a 4.0-litre V8 from the M3 into the engine bay. In fact, G-Power installed the entire powertrain from the M3 including the M-DCT transmission and stainless steel exhaust system. Then, taking power to a whole new level, G-Power strapped a supercharger to the V8, which was custom designed to fit into the engine bay.

G-Power’s handiwork results in 441 kW and peak torque of 580 Nm. The compact coupé now rockets from 0 – 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds, reaches 200 km/h after 12.7 and tops out at 330 km/h. G-Power say the G1 V8 Hurricane RS is the fastest 1 Series on the planet. As a benchmark, their G-Power 1 M Coupé accelerates from 0 – 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and has a top speed of 300 km/h.

As with their G-Power 1 M, the tuning house has fitted the Hurricane RS with 396 mm front brake discs with 6-piston calipers, a height-adjustable coil-over suspension with nine selectable settings, as well as 20-inch G-Power Silverstone alloys fitted with Michelin tyres.

There are few visual cues to let-on about the Hurricane’s capabilities, but apart from the larger wheels, G-Power have fitted a lightweight carbon fibre bonnet with a power dome and vent openings, plus a carbon fibre boot that incorporates a CSL style spoiler. Inside, G-Power offers premium leather and Alcantara, hand crafted to the owners individual taste.
