Fiat in-house tuners, Abarth, have announced a new limited edition series for the Fiat 500, which will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show. The limited edition series is known as the ‘Fuori Serie’ and incorporates the highest level of customisation yet for the little Italian hatchback.
The Fuori Serie stands for ‘special production’ and is only available on the Abarth 695 model, which is the top dog Fiat 500 offering. Abarth say that with the Fuori Serie they will offer the customer the possibility of talking with Abarth engineers, mechanics and designers to customise every little detail on their car.
The 695 Fuori Serie will be powered by the same 4-cylinder 1.4-litre engine that produces 132 kW and 250 Nm of torque. Interestingly though, the 695 Fuori Serie is mated to an Abarth Competizione electrically-operated manual gearbox with steering wheel mounted controls and not a regular manual gearbox. The Fuori Serie is said to sprint from 0 – 100 km/h in 7 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 225 km/h. It has a MacPherson-type independent front suspension and stopping power is provided by Brembo brakes. The Abarth 695 Fuori Serie is fitted with 17-inch alloy wheels.
Abarth has created two collections for the Fuori Serie. One for the liveries and exterior colours and the other for special materials and trim levels, such as carbon finishes and technology accessories like personalised audio. To give us an idea of what clients of the brand can achieve through this program, the Abarth pictured here is in a livery inspired by the Fiat Abarth 131 Mirafiori ‘Olio Fiat’ rally car of the late 1970s. Pretty eye-catching we have to admit.
Abarth added that from now on, only models of the Fuore Serie will get the maximum 132 kW power tuning and feature the exclusive 695 branding. Abarth also say that the current collection of exterior liveries we will see at the Paris Motor Show were inspired by cars that have written the brand’s history, such as the Fiat 750 Record, 124 Sanremo and X19 prototype.
