Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG MC700 By McChip-DKR

A German ECU tuning bunch called McChip-DKR had the brainwave to do some fettling and strap a mechanical supercharger onto the 6.2-litre naturally aspirated engine found in the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. Never mind that before they did their dirty work, the burnished AMG V8 was the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 in the world. As it turns out, incredibly crazy things happen when you choose to bulk up an AMG V8.

The McChip-DKR engine now shunts 508 kW of power and twists out 770 Nm of torque. That is a sizeable improvement over the 425 kW and 650 Nm of torque you get as standard from AMG. Cue a glorious supercharger whine to go with the SLS’s baritone V8 backtrack please maestro. This specific package is called the MC700 (for 700 horsepower) and is achieved by said supercharger and a set of ECU re-calibrations, as well as a new Capristo exhaust system.

The second stage is for export markets and adds sports exhaust catalysts and an extra stage of tuning for the ECU. This stage of tuning is said to create upwards of 526 kW and 800 Nm of torque. We feel sorry for the SLS’s rear tyres just thinking about it. McChip-DKR say the first stage of MC700 tuning will cost €69 900. The more powerful tuning package will cost  €78 999, or in the region of R870 000.

The McChip-DKR MC700 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG receives no visual changes or suspension tweaks, meaning this project is clearly all about the engine; just as it should be with an AMG.
